Who's taking your photos?
Hi there! I’m Tina, a professional photographer and MA graduate in journalism. I’m a cheerful and optimistic person by nature, with loads of interests and hobbies which we can talk about in person, since it’s a way too broad a subject. So let’s stay with photography.
About 15 years ago, when I was starting my study program in Journalism, what I was thinking about the most was photography and photojournalism. An enormous desire, playfulness and the need to create photos and carefully observe my surroundings took me to all kinds of places and events. I wanted to learn as much as possible and develop my skills, so I attended a number of courses in analogue and digital photography in Croatia and abroad. Each has contributed to my photography style, even though it was mostly my own initiative for exploration, enthusiasm and experimentation that led it toward the desired direction. Group exhibitions and occasional awards on the way served as affirmation and an incentive to continue down that road. Still, the greatest acknowledgment and satisfaction have always come from the moments where I would make someone happy with a photo of mine or would find it meaningful.
Photography has opened my eyes on many occasions and helped me to perceive something new in the life that surrounds us. It has also taught (and continues to teach) me the enormous difference between looking and really seeing. It has made me create my own vision of photography, one that’s very much oriented towards positivity and stories and scenes transmitting joy, optimism, beauty or inspiration for the observer; they incite the transmission of tender emotions. It is exactly those kinds of stories and scenes I usually choose (and they me) so that I can capture and transmit in the photos the most beautiful elements and significant moments that a scene has to offer.
The things that inspire and entice people are usually right close by, but they are rarely aware of it. A photo has a deep effect on the observer, so it often happens that it is just after a person has seen a particular scene, person or situation that they realize how fascinating or beautiful it is. Sometimes it’s the landscape, people, or generally scenes from their immediate vicinity, but it’s only through a photograph that an image that someone has passed by many times has been made impressive, thought-provoking and memorable.
In the last 7 years, the majority of my professional endeavors have included photographing children, families, couples and weddings. What I find most appealing about it is capturing human connection, love and authentic stories.
Whether you wish to photograph an event you’re organizing or take portraits of you or your children, a photo story of a certain subject, or something else altogether, feel free to contact me. First of all, let’s get to know each other. Tell me about your photo-related wishes and needs.
